Abstract

Compositions formed by three or more irregular metrical pairs had been little investigated. Songs with two verses predominate and Villancico was the most frequent form in which they developed during the XV and XVI centuries. Paired compositions existed in Castilian region since the XIIIth century, and even though during the next centuries they disappeared
from the surface, modern folkloric research has made them emerge. Among texts of this “genre”, non-parallelistic compositions that
talk about farmers and herdsmen culture are interesting These kinds of poems are only found in sapiential books. The main poetic charm of these songs lies on the accumulation of its elements, like in riddles and nursery rhymes
